Martin Luther King Jr.
Born January 15, 1929, Martin Luther King Jr. was a Baptist minister and social activist who led the civil rights movement in the United States from the mid-1950s until his death in 1968. He was a leader in the civil rights movement and was able to transform conflict into moral issues that existed in his day. His will and personality enabled him to successfully awaken African Americans and put them into action. He gave many powerful speeches and wrote articles and books about the social problems of his time. King was assassinated at the age of 39 in Memphis, Tennessee after giving another one of his famous and final speeches.
